In 2004, the American Heart Association (AHA) faced a challenge. Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismissed it as an older man’s disease. To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
The luncheon in Reno is one of the most attended events in our community. We gather to inspire, encourage and save lives. Our theme this year is “Heart Healthy at Every Age”. We will harnesses the energy, passion and power women have to band together, take some time to take care of themselves and collectively wipe out heart disease.
This year we are proud to welcome Martha Lanier, Motivational Speaker as the Keynote. A breast cancer and heart attack survivor, Martha is known to empower attendees to make their lives their number one priority.
