We can do this together!
Fifteen years ago, Go Red For Women was born as a campaign to raise awareness among women about their great health threat – heart disease. Slowly, the campaign grew into a movement – one that not only brought together thousands of women annually but became the trusted, passionate, relevant force for change to eradicate heart disease and stroke all over the world. Go Red For Women provides a platform for women and their families to lead healthier lives, and drive collective action for community transformation. It’s not just about wearing red; it’s not just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about:
The Go Red for Women luncheon continues to serve as the cornerstone event of the Go Red For Women movement in local communities. This empowering event focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by promoting healthy lifestyles, building awareness and raising critically-needed funds to support research and education initiatives. Cardiovascular diseases, which include stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. We hope you will join us on our mission because about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented.
The time is now. Women are leaning into the idea that when we take a stand, commit, and work together, real change is possible.
Chief Operating Officer of Northern Nevada Medical Center
2019 Reno Go Red For Women Chair
"I am genuinely humbled to serve as the 2019 Go Red for Women Chair in our northern Nevada community, knowing that I follow in the footsteps of the brave and influential women who have served in this capacity since 2003. I have had the honor and distinct pleasure of working in the healthcare industry for over 20 years and I feel it is my calling to touch healthcare in a way that elevates it for the future generations. When I was 14 years old, I participated in my first Heart Walk in honor of my cousin, Jessica, who had just died at the age of 14 from a congenital heart defect. I also lost my beloved grandfather, Richard, this year to heart disease. Considering all of this, I am beyond impassioned to be a voice and leader that supports the American Heart and Stroke Association to continue to fund research and education to improve the outcomes of those we love and the community we serve.
There are many Go Red supporters in our community and we all seem to share the same vision of creating an impact to the future generations while extending our gratitude to those that have come before us."
